CLINICAL STAFF
Prof John Eu-Li Wong, Director of The Cancer Institute, did his residency and fellowship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Centre and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre. He was the CALGB protocol fellow and Chief Resident, Internal Medicine, while at Cornell. In 1992 he returned to his native Singapore to assume the position of Head, Department of Medical Oncology, at the National University Hospital. He was instrumental in developing a state-of-art Medical Oncology programme at the National University Hospital, where a major focus is conducting clinical trials designed to meet the stringent audit process required for peer-review presentation. His research interests are focused on exploring the differences in biology between Asian and Western cancers, and exploring new therapeutic options in cancers unique to South-East Asia.
Dr Robert Lim, Chief of Department of Haemotology-Onocology, did his residency and fellowship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Centre and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre. His research interests are with the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary cancers.
Dr Boon-Cher Goh, Director of Research, Department of Haematology-Oncology, received his fellowship training in clinical pharmacology at the University of Chicago. His research interests are in phase I studies and pharmacogenetics and he currently directs these programs in the department.
Dr Siew-Eng Lim, Senior Consultant, did her residency in Philadelphia and fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre, Harvard Medical School. She has a strong interest in breast and gynaecological cancer trials and is actively involved in the development and running of these trials.
Dr Soo-Chin Lee completed a fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore and is currently directing the cancer genetics programme at the National University Hospital. She is specialize in breast cancer.
Dr Ross Soo, Senior Consultant, did his residency in Melbourne,Australia and fellowship in Melbourne and Sydney. His current interests are with the clinical trials in head and neck, and lung cancers.
Dr Alvin Wong, Consultant, did his residency in medical oncology at National university Hospital and fellowship in EBV-related malignancies at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. His special interests are in urologic malignancies, tumor immunology and Asian lung cancer.
Dr Wei-Peng Yong, Consultant, did his fellowship at the University of Chicago. His interests are early phase clinical trial and gastrointestinal cancers.
A/Prof Wee-Joo Chng, Consultant, did his residency in Internal Medicine in York, United Kingdom and fellowship in Haematology at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He subsequently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship on Multiple Myeloma Genomics at the Mayo Clinic, USA. His current research interest is in genomics and experimental therapeutics in haematological malignancies and directs the research in haematological malignancies.
Dr Tan-Min Chin, Consultant, received her general oncology training at National University Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in thoracic oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Her interests are primarily in lung cancers, especially that occurring in non-smokers. She has ongoing translational and clinical studies, specially designed for this group of patients.
Dr Sing-Huang Tan, Consultant, did her oncology training at National University Hospital, in addition to a fellowship at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore. She has a strong interest in breast cancer trials, and also in research involving epigenetics in various tumor types.
