CLINICAL STAFF

Dr Alex Y Chang, MD is the CEO and Medical Director of Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre (JHSIMC). He holds the concurrent position of Director for Research. Former professor of oncology in medicine at the University of Rochester, New York. Dr Chang has been the principal investigator in more than 80 clinical trials. Before relocating to Singapore to assume his position at Johns Hopkins. Dr Chang has served as the President/Director of Research at the Upstate New York Cancer Research & Education Foundation. Dr Chang has been deeply involved in the development of study protocols for ECOG and URCC and has published over 90 peer reviewed research papers.

Dr Lavina Bharwani is a consultant with Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre (JHSIMC) and holds the concurrent position of Assistant Director for Clinical Education. Prior to joining JHSIMC, she was an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Haematology/Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in the USA. Dr Bharwani is trained in Internal Medicine as well as Haematology/Oncology at Baylor and is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Haematology and Medical Oncology. Her areas of interest include breast cancer, gynaecologic and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Dr Gilberto Lopes is a consultant at Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre (JHSIMC). He holds the concurrent position of Assistant Director for Research and has a special interest in thoracic, gastrointestinal and breast malignancies. Prior to joining JHSIMC, he was a Haematology/Oncology fellow with the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami. Dr Gilberto Lopes is an active clinical researcher and has authored many scientific papers and abstracts as well as review articles and book chapter on Oncology.
